Kuma

The Kuma has a vocal sac made from a piezoelectric material which is capable of many modulations and amplifications. Its anatomy functions as a very complex sound system which renders the species capable of multiple vocal projections at once and the ability to harvest and digest its dietary quota of minerals, as in, rocks. This system which comprises of the wings, antennae and vocal sac is rather quirky. The wings act as originator to the frequency of its 'song' which once created passes into the dusty atmosphere around the creature and is picked up by a very sensitive crystal on its neck. This crystal's resonations trigger the strange piezometric drum which is the kuma's vocal sac. The vocal sac expands, contracts and visibly responds to the waves of sound as it senses, or 'tastes', the rocks flavour, 'or resonance'. This flavour is not sensed on contact with a tongue but through the exploration of the bug's antennae as it detects the fissures and imperfections of the rocks around. A particularly juicy, or 'tasty', piece of rock will be of a texture such as conveniences the bug's digestive systems.
